Privacy Policy
1. WHO WE ARE
Code Compass ("Code Compass," "we," "us") operates codecompass.work, a study app for the electrical trades. This policy explains what we collect when you use the site and what we do with it.
2. WHAT WE COLLECT
Account details: your email address, the name you enter, and your password (stored only in hashed form by our login provider). Study details: your NEC edition, the state and licensing board you test with, lesson and quiz progress, and study time. Co-Pilot questions: the questions you ask are sent to our AI provider to generate an answer. We keep a record of each request (time, edition, and method) to enforce usage limits. Usage and device details: pages you visit, clicks, browser type, and IP address, collected by the services below.
3. SERVICES WE USE
Supabase stores your account and study data and handles sign-in. Stripe processes payments and subscriptions. Card details go directly to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. PostHog measures how the site is used (pages visited, clicks, and visit length) so we can improve it. Google Ads (the Google tag) measures whether our ads lead to sign-ups. When you arrive from a Google ad, we save the ad click ID in a first-party cookie for 90 days and attach it to your checkout so we can tell which ads lead to trials and paid subscriptions. Google Cloud (Gemini) generates Co-Pilot answers from the questions you send. Vercel hosts the site and keeps short-term server logs, including IP addresses. We do not use the Meta (Facebook) pixel.
4. COOKIES AND LOCAL STORAGE
We use cookies and your browser's local storage to keep you signed in, remember your NEC edition and theme, count free questions, save the Google Ads click ID (cc_gclid, 90 days), and run PostHog and the Google tag. You can block or clear cookies in your browser settings; some features, such as staying signed in, need them.
5. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION
To run your account and subscription, answer your Co-Pilot questions, track your study progress, prevent abuse, improve the site, and measure our advertising. We do not sell your personal information.
6. SHARING
We share information only with the services listed above, which process it on our behalf, and when the law requires it.
7. YOUR CHOICES
You can update your name, NEC edition, and exam location in your profile. To ask for a copy of your data or to delete your account, email us. You can opt out of personalized Google ads at adssettings.google.com.
8. CHILDREN
Code Compass is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
9. CHANGES
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date on this page.
